What is the difference between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0?

tagsdesign usb flash drive

USB 2.0 (also know as High Speed USB) is the latest version of the USB and is much faster at transferring data than USB 1.1.

Whilst USB 1.0 and 1.1 support a maximum data rate of 12Mbps, USB 2.0 works at a much faster rate of 480Mbps.

USB 1.1 is 100% compatible with USB 2.0 and vice versa. This means you can use both types of drives on the same PC or Mac. You only get the benefit of the extra speed when you have a USB 2.0 Flash Drive with a USB 2.0 PC or Mac.
